Without rebellion, art will be a vehicle of governmental control.

Komar and Melamid : Artists
"Art Belongs to the People" was an underground art performance in a private apartment in Moscow, amidst art restrictions of the Soviet Union. "Set against a background of nationalist music, Komar and Melamid mimicked the Soviet police and shouted orders into microphones to four “artistically untrained people to create huge patriotic canvases” (Komar, 2009).
The police learned of the performance and burst into the apartment. Komar spent the night under arrest.
