In the district of Presnya in Moscow, workers congregated in a peaceful strike that led to small clashes with the military. The opposition put up barricades, gaining masses of up to 150,000. The police and military unleashed an aggressive attack against the opposition. At this point, Lenin advised against the barricaded area - "Don't occupy fortified positions! …Let out fortresses be the alleyways and courtyards and all those places from which it is easy to shoot and easy to get away from!"
