In the January 1950 issue of Redbook magazine, author Philip Wylie made predictions mostly focused on leisure culture in the future. On sports, he predicted: '“Spectator sports” will be conducted in plastic-domed stadia. Football and baseball will still be played—though Telesense will keep ninety per cent of the audience at home.' In 2000, these sports are still rather popular indeed. And although not always played in plastic-domed stadia, with live broadcating channels a large number of fans will be able to watch the game at home.
