Flying policemen will control traffic jams in the air

Jean-Marc Côté : Artist
In 1899, French commercial artist Jean-Marc Côté produced a series of postcards (En l'an 2000) showcasing his vision of Parisian life in the year 2000. Science fiction writer Asimov stated that the pictures had been commissioned by a toy or cigarette manufacturer that then suddenly went out of business, leaving a unique set of images. Others believe the postcards were issued for the Paris World Exhibition in 1900 or created by another French artist Villemard in 1910. Either way, the images vividly show what life in 2000 could look like. This illustration predicted: In the 21st century, in order to control traffic jams in the air, there will be more and more flying policemen. Although air traffic increased drastically, flying policemen were rare in 2000.
