Moulded Plywood Will Become Commonplace in the Future

In 1940 MoMA in New York, held a competition called "Organic Design In Home Furnishings" organised to encourage the development of new materials and manufacturing systems. The two first prizes were awarded to Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames who developed furninture which demonstrated how moulded plywood, composed of seven to four teen sheets of veneer connected by layers of glue could be used to create curved wood items.
