"Half a billion of the world’s population under age 25 live on less than $2 a day, according to the United Nations. As growing numbers of youth are “at risk” in some way—whether joining gangs, becoming addicted to drugs, or falling prey to the sex trade—new approaches will be needed to ensure better futures. Leading law enforcement experts recommend programs such as parent education, mentoring, nonviolent conflict resolution, character education, and community–school partnerships, as well as supporting the UNICEF-sponsored International Convention on the Rights of the Child."
