More nuclear reactors are being built, but they may not be enough to reduce pollution from carbon dioxide. By the end of 2007, the world had 439 operating nuclear reactors. Worldwide, 112 new reactors in 25 countries are planned, but in order for nuclear power to significantly contribute to reductions of carbon emissions, some 2,000 new reactors are needed, critics argue.
