Holiday planes of the future could fly in formation and glide into airports

Airbus : Airline Manufacturer
Aviation giant Airbus are behind the radical plans which they say could happen as soon as 2050.
Other ambitious plans that could improve the holiday flight include steeper take-offs to reduce journey times and gentler, glide-in landings to improve noise problems and emissions.
Airbus added that by the middle of the 21st century flights in Europe and the USA could on average be around 13 minutes shorter, saving around nine million tonnes of fuel a year.
And highly-intelligent aircraft would be able to 'self-organise' selecting the most efficient and environmentally-friendly routes.
