Computer implants will augment natural senses and enhance brain capacity

Ray Kurzweil : writer, futurist
The eyeglasses and headphones that will have used to deliver virtual reality will be obsolete thanks to computer implants that go into the eyes and ears. The implants will be either permanent or removable. They will allow direct interface with computers, communications and Internet-based applications. The implants will be also capable of recording what the user sees and hears. Computer implants designed for direct connection to the brain will also be available. They will be capable of augmenting natural senses and of enhancing higher brain functions like memory, learning speed and overall intelligence.
