There will be few transportation accidents due to computer-controlled vehicle driving

Ray Kurzweil : writer, futurist
Computers will do most of the vehicle driving - humans will be in fact prohibited from driving on highways unassisted. Furthermore, when humans will do take over the wheel, the onboard computer system will constantly monitor their actions and take control whenever the human drives recklessly. As a result, there will be very few transportation accidents. Most roads will have automated driving systems - networks of monitoring and communication devices that will allow computer-controlled automobiles to safely navigate.
