Alexander Dubček : First Secretary of the Communist Part of Czechoslavakia
'Prague Spring' was an attempt by newly-elected First Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia,  Alexander Dubček to liberalize the country that was still under Soviet Control. Through reforms granting additional rights to citizens and partial decentralization of the economy, he attempted to free citizens from strict restrictions under Soviet rule. The Soviet Union responded by invading the country and ultimately reclaiming its control.
